Angela Bassett will finally get an Oscar after ‘sore loser’ incident

Angela Bassett will receive an honorary Oscar at this year's Governors Awards along with Mel Brooks and Carol Littleton. Sundance Institute's Michelle Satter will also be presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Bassett was controversially passed over for Best Supporting Actress in this year's Oscars for her role in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Some saw her reaction to the loss as that of a "sore loser," while others felt sorry for her. Academy President Janet Yang praised all four honorees as "trailblazers who have transformed the film industry and inspired generations of filmmakers and movie fans." The ceremony is set to take place on November 18, 2023, in Los Angeles.
