The Walking Dead: Dead City release date AND teaser trailer revealed during WonderCon '23 panel with Lauren Cohan, more

The upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off starring Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) now has a release date: Sunday, June 18 at 10:00 p.m. on AMC and AMC+. That and more was revelaed in one of two The Walking Dead panels Saturday at WonderCon in Anaheim, California.

Cohan was the central star on Wonder Con's The Walking Dead: Dead City panel, joined by co-star Gaius Charles and showrunner Eli Jorné. Here is a trailer released during the panel:

"The Walking Dead: Dead City follows the popular Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland," reads AMC's description of the show. "The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror."

Rounding out The Walking Dead: Dead City cast is Zelko Ivaek as 'the Corat, Jonathan Higginbotham as TOmmaso, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Trey Santiago-Hudson as Jano, Charles Solis as 'The Bartender', and Michael Anthonty as Luther.

Maggie's son, Hershee Rhee, is also set to appear in Dead City, although the actor playing him has not yet been revealed by AMC.

Curiously, an AMC press release describes Dead City as "the first spin-off in the Walking Dead Universe" which seemingly forgets the current Fear the Walking Dead, as well as recent shows World Beyond and Tales of the Walking Dead. This could be a simple mistake, or a retro-active attempt to make Dead City (and future spin-offs) more prestigious than those spin-off shows.

The six-episode The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere Sunday, June 18 at 10:00 p.m. on AMC and AMC+.
