Hong Kong singer and voice of 'Mulan,' CoCo Lee, has died by suicide at the age of 48. Her sisters, Carol and Nancy Lee, confirmed the news on social media, revealing that CoCo had been battling depression for several years. Despite seeking professional help and fighting the illness, her condition worsened in the last few months. On July 2nd, she attempted suicide and was hospitalized, but sadly, she passed away on July 5th.
CoCo Lee was a renowned pop star in Asia, reaching the peak of her career in the 1990s and early 2000s. Her debut album, CoCo Lee, signed with Sony Music Entertainment in 1996, became the best-selling album in Asia that year. She started her career as a Mandopop singer but later released albums in Cantonese and English. Her single "Do You Want My Love" even made it onto the U.S. music charts. In 1999, CoCo released her first English album, titled Just No Other Way.
One of her most emotionally resonant songs was "A Love Before Time," from the acclaimed film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
