Over the years, AMC's "The Walking Dead" has presented fans with plenty of questionable (and sometimes, downright laughable) romantic relationships that don't quite make sense. Consider the strange romance between Andrea (Laurie Holden) and the tyrannical Governor (David Morrissey) in Season 3, which not only felt extremely forced from the start, but was also a direct contradiction to Andrea's storyline from the comics.
Another example is the cringeworthy pairing of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Alpha (Samantha Morton), wherein the show united two of its most detestable villains for some extremely awkward love scenes. Although there are still plenty of engaging, worthwhile relationships — including perhaps the best couple on "The Walking Dead" Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), whose romance continues to inform the narrative long after Glenn's untimely death — the show is riddled with just as many unsatisfying and blatantly forced relationships. That includes one particularly irksome couple that fans seem to dislike more than any other "The Walking Dead" pairing.
Fans on Reddit seem to agree that Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) make up the worst couple in all of "The Walking Dead," and it's easy to see why. Not only does their relationship begin off-screen during the Season 9 time skip, but it is presented as a less-than-ideal love triangle as Rosita is carrying the child of her ex-lover Siddiq (Avi Nash) while she is dating Gabriel. In theory, that's a situation that could work out fine, except that fans don't think Gabriel and Rosita have any chemistry together or make sense as a couple whatsoever.
"In no universe, normal or apocalypse would I ever believe these two characters would fall in love and start a family environment," wrote u/donniepcgames. "They have no chemistry and make absolutely zero sense," echoed u/ChronicNuance. Not only do the two characters have seemingly nothing drawing them together, but as u/chilibaby1 pointed out, the two rarely ever interact with each other at all. As if it weren't already abundantly clear that fans do not care for this particular couple, a Reddit poll of over 1,000 fans of "The Walking Dead" saw 501 users vote for Gabriel and Rosita as the worst couple in the entire series.
It seems that many fans were a bit surprised that the show even put Gabriel and Rosita together, and they aren't the only ones. During an appearance on "The Talking Dead" (via ComicBook.com), Gilliam spoke about the pairing, and revealed that while he'd been clued in that Gabriel was going to have a romance, he had no idea it would be with Rosita. The actor said, "So I didn't really know that that was happening until I got the script."
