Madison Carter, the girlfriend of former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett, has broken her silence since his tragic drowning death in Destin, Florida. Carter, a medical student at Arkansas State, expressed her gratitude to those who reached out to her and shared a heartfelt Facebook post on Sunday night. She mentioned her trust in God's plan but admitted that she may never understand why the tragedy occurred. Carter apologized for not being able to save Mallett and emphasized his talent, dedication, and passion for football. She described him as a selfless person who always looked for the good in others.

Carter and Mallett had made their relationship public just a few weeks before the tragic incident. The news of Mallett's passing deeply affected the football community, particularly at White Hall High School, where he coached. Those close to him acknowledged his fulfilling role as a coach, and one mother recounted the special bond he had with her son before the son's untimely death in a shooting.

In her Facebook post, Carter expressed her profound grief and love for Mallett. She acknowledged the immense support from his family, friends, teammates, students, and countless others. Carter admitted that she doesn't know how she'll move forward without him but considers it an honor to have loved and been loved by him. She expressed her anticipation of being reunited with him someday.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Mallett drowned off the coast of the Florida panhandle, but riptides were not a factor in his death. Sheriff Eric Aden clarified that there were no dangerous beach conditions reported during that time.

Mallett had played college football at the University of Michigan before transferring to Arkansas, where he achieved back-to-back 30-touchdown seasons. He spent five years in the NFL, playing for the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens.
