A kind soldier who bought two boys a meal has been hailed a real hero.
Lieutenant Colonel Robert Risdon noticed the boys were soaking wet as they had been walking outside raising money for their church by selling homemade desserts.
They asked him if he would like to buy some, but he didn’t have any cash with him so asked if they would like some Taco Bell instead.
‘They looked like they hadn’t eaten a meal in weeks and had been out in the rain selling their stuff for a while,’ the soldier told . ‘I can’t even count the number of times I was cold, wet and hungry in the Army. To sit in warmth and eat some tacos is a big victory for them.’
Jason Gibson was in the fast food restaurant as well in Mobile, Alabama, and videoed what happened.
He said on Facebook on Wednesday: ‘I overheard a soldier ask the kids if they were hungry and told them to follow him to the counter, he would buy them dinner.
‘I had to video it and share. Our troops are always taking care of us. I heard the little one say ‘I want to be just like you when I grow up’ and saluted him.’
