The story is about Sarah Rodo, a woman from Dortmund, Germany, who is in a sexual relationship with an airplane. Sarah found love on her first flight with a Boeing 737, after unsuccessful attempts at dating humans. She identifies as objectum sexual, which means she has a sexual or romantic attraction to inanimate objects. Despite their unconventional relationship, Sarah is deeply committed to her lover.
In the past year, she has traveled abroad 30 times just to spend quality time with her partner. However, Sarah is heartbroken that she has never been fully alone with her Boeing 737. To compensate for their lack of privacy, Sarah has a collection of model planes that she shares a bed with. She has over 60 custom-made figurines and three larger models that she considers part of a "collective being" she is dating.
Sarah refers to her lovers as one and has affectionately named the original Boeing "Dicki." Sarah's devotion to her planes extends beyond collecting models. She has spent over £3,550 on her collection and also has five airplane tattoos. Despite their strong bond, Sarah and her lover cannot legally marry. However, Sarah hinted at the possibility of wedding bells in the future. In the meantime, Sarah continues to travel and explore new cities with her beloved planes. She cherishes the time spent with her partner(s), but longs for the day she can be alone with a real plane.
