A 6-year-old boy in Florida was tragically killed in an attack by a pit bull mix. The family is requesting that the dog be euthanized and the police are still investigating whether anyone will be charged in the boy's death. The young boy, Daylan Guillen, was mauled last Tuesday morning and later died from severe injuries sustained to his upper torso. The North Port Police Department stated that there were no prior incidents with the dog and that it was a family pet.
The Guillen family has asked for the dog to be euthanized, and it is currently in quarantine for 10 days before being put down. The family has also mentioned that the dog had never shown any signs of aggression in the past. The incident has deeply saddened the North Port community, particularly Daylan's little league baseball league where he was remembered as a sweet and happy-go-lucky kid who loved playing baseball. Daylan was also a bat boy for his older brother's team. A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover the family's funeral expenses, describing Daylan as an amazing son and brother who loved dinosaurs and enjoyed helping out around the house.
