How Will The Walking Dead Shows Be Affected by the Writers' Strike?
08/05/2023

It has already been confirmed that series such as Yellowjackets, Stranger Things, Abbott Elementary and Cobra Kai will face delays. This is because the writers are on strike, which means that they will not be able to continue working on the scripts for the next episodes. However, some major series have confirmed that the strike will not affect them.

The lucky series include Andor season 2, House of the Dragon season 2 and Good Omens season 2. These have been confirmed to have finished scripts in the box and are ready to shoot. Obviously, due to the WGA writers' strike, no scripts can be rewritten for any of these projects. This could still lead to disruptions.

The Walking Dead universe has been fortunate to avoid any strike-related disruptions. That's because filming on season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead, as well as Dead City, Daryl Dixon and the untitled Rick & Michonne spinoff, is already far enough along that they won't be affected.

It is not yet known what problems might arise later on. The strike also prevents the writers from being on set. It also prevents the sometimes necessary rewrites from taking place. For the time being, however, it seems that the Walking Dead universe can keep to its schedule. The final season of Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on May 14, 2023. Dead City will arrive on June 18, 2023. Daryl Dixon later, but still in 2023. And Rick and Michonne's series is still scheduled for 2024.
