She seems fearless as Maggie Greene on AMC's smash hit The Walking Dead. However, during her upcoming appearance on Inside the Actors Studio Lauren Cohan admitted that upon reading a particularly brutal scene in season three she was almost ready to quit.

'I have to leave the show. I don't think I can do it,' the 34-year-old recalled saying at the time, to her on-screen husband Steven Yeun.Lauren explained that everyone from the cast lives in the same apartment building - joking: 'We're ridiculously incestuous' - and that she went over and knocked on his door to talk it out with him.

The scene that troubled the actress so was when her character Maggie must perform a C-section on a still-living Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) in order to save her baby, later named Judith.

To make matters worse, Lori's young son Carl (Chandler Riggs) was there, watching the brutal, impromptu surgery, which resulted in the death of his mother.'It affects you so deeply to the core to touch on … to dive into so much of this material,' Lauren said of working on the show.

However, she admitted that after mulling it over she realized that because the material was so troubling, it was important that she stay on the show and see it through.'And then I realized that’s why I have to do it … we watch to feel and to hopefully, honestly portray something,' she shared, adding: 'And bad stuff happens, and what’s the point in not getting real about it?'
