A young British university student, Suleman Dawood, was one of the five people who died in the tragic OceanGate submersible accident during a trip to explore the Titanic wreckage. His heartbroken aunt revealed that he only went on the trip to please his father, who was passionate about the 1912 shipwreck. Suleman was described as being "terrified" about the trip but felt compelled to please his father.
His aunt spoke of the devastating impact the tragedy has had on the family and shared her personal grief. Suleman and his father, Shahzada Dawood, were heirs to the great Dawood business dynasty and amongst the richest people in Pakistan but lived in Surrey, England. The family has issued a statement asking for prayers and condolences during this tragic time.
