An Ohio mother has been arrested and charged with murder after her 16-month-old daughter died after allegedly being left home alone for 10 days while the mother went on vacation. Kristel Candelario said that she left her daughter Jailyn alone and unattended in their home in Cleveland while she travelled to Michigan and Puerto Rico. Upon her return, she found Jailyn unresponsive and extremely dehydrated.
Emergency responders pronounced the girl dead at the scene. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the child was left alone and unattended for approximately 10 days and had subsequently died. Candelario is being held on a $1 million bond.
