Jake Tapper tells CNN producers to stop airing Trump at Miami restaurant after arraignment: ‘Enough of that’
2023/06/15

CNN anchor Jake Tapper expressed annoyance on air as CNN aired live footage of former President Donald Trump being celebrated by supporters at a Cuban restaurant in Miami, hours after he was arraigned on federal charges related to mishandling classified documents. Tapper complained that Trump was trying to turn the event into a spectacle and campaign ad. CNN cut the live broadcast short. The incident comes just a week after Chris Licht resigned as CNN boss following criticism for airing a live town hall with Trump. CNN employees were dissatisfied with Licht’s leadership style, which they claimed was aloof and paranoid. Under new corporate parent Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN aims to provide more neutral coverage. Despite his legal troubles, Trump is expected to run for president again in 2024.
